Let’s talk about how to get the real you back.
Smile more, enjoy life again, and get your mojo back.

Pleased to meet you!

I’m a Southern Belle and a Kentucky Colonel (kind of like the guy on the KFC sign, but without the goatee and super cool bow tie) living in Altrincham (Manchester), UK and I’m so glad you are here.

I’m a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with a passion for relaxin’, making corny jokes, and helping people feel better.

As unfair as it is, I’ve not got any real chicken cred and I can’t get you a free 14 piece party bucket, but I can show you how to get your subconscious to work for you, rather than against you. Maybe quite not as delicious, but a bit healthier.

Still a little unsure, or even sceptical? Don’t worry; most questions can be answered on my Hypnotherapy or FAQ pages. You can also learn a little bit more about me here.

I would also be delighted to answer any questions personally that you might have, so just fill out the Contact Me form and say hi!

How can hypnotherapy and hypnosis help?

Any issues that are stress related in our lives (and most of our issues are) can be helped with hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

I offer Solution-Focused hypnotherapy sessions and hypnosis for relaxation that’s available in-person in the Manchester and Altrincham area or online, no matter where in the world you are. If you are curious about how hypnotherapy can help you (and I bet that you are – that’s why you are here!) let’s explore some of most frequent reasons that someone might seek out hypnotherapy or hypnosis.

Let’s talk about stress and anxiety.

This is the big one. Without a doubt, stress and anxiety are two of the most common reasons that people seek out hypnotherapy and is at the root of so many other problems. The magic of hypnotherapy is that it helps you to create a brand-new perspective, while at the same time it enables you to find confidence in yourself.

I’m located in Altrincham, Cheshire, in greater Manchester UK and offer online sessions throughout the world. Hypnotherapy and hypnosis can help you reduce stress, unlock your potential, and get the real you back.

We will create a bespoke plan, tailored just for you, and break through any issues you might be having to finding that happy, healthy version of you that I know is in there. We can get your mojo back.

Stop smoking

Another huge reason that people seek out hypnosis and hypnotherapy is to stop smoking. I can tell you as a former and quite dedicated 2 pack a day smoker (for over 20 years!) the very decision to stop smoking is no small achievement.

The smoking connection is deeply engrained in our brain and our emotions. Once you’ve made up your mind to stop, and for me at least, this was the hardest part, hypnotherapy is a great solution as it targets the root of the problem, the subconscious.

Weight Loss and Weight Management

You might find that you’ve struggled in the past losing weight. Or you might have recently picked up some excess baggage that you would like to get rid of. Maybe you would like to fit back into your clothes. As someone who has lost about 90 pounds (that’s 6.4 stone) and kept it off for the last 10 years, I understand.

Losing weight can be a challenge down to the emotional connection that we can sometimes have to food. If you are looking to lose weight hypnosis is a powerful, effective, and easy way to begin to release your excess weight. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy will get straight to any bad habits or negative outdated beliefs that have been sabotaging your weight loss efforts in the past.

Armed with a new perspective, you can change your eating and exercise habits using the power of your subconscious mind.

Unlock Your Brain’s Potential

Sometimes people seek out hypnotherapy because they have specific issues, maybe they are completely stressed and anxious, or perhaps it’s something like IBS or OCD.

Taking a Solution-Focused approach to hypnosis and hypnotherapy, we look at the whole person from a holistic perspective. Once you understand how your mind works, and can tap into your powerful subconscious; not only will you get your mojo back, but you can start to see things in a different light. Things that were big issues in the past are no longer a big deal.

You might find that you become more motivated at work, happier at home, seeing friends more often, just enjoying life in a way you haven’t before.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy isn’t just for people with issues that they want to overcome. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy is a preventative wellness practice for anyone wanting to be more motivated, productive, or happy. You don’t have to have a problem that you are looking to fix or something you want to change; hypnosis and hypnotherapy can help you to simply be the best version of yourself and unlock your full potential.

Will I still be in control?
Yes, you are still fully in control of yourself when you are hypnotised. It’s sort of like a daydream. You are still conscious, but extremely relaxed. No one can take control of you and make you do silly things while you’re hypnotised unless of course, you want to.
Is Hypnosis mind control?
Nope. Despite how it is portrayed sometimes, hypnosis can’t make you the slave of the person hypnotising you. You are in control throughout the session and you are not under a “spell” or under the power of someone else. You will never do anything while you are hypnotised that you wouldn’t do in normal life. And trust me, I do not want any of my clients clucking like chickens!
What happens if I can’t come out of hypnosis?
It’s impossible for that to happen, because you won’t be unconscious. You will just be deeply relaxed, and you can come out of that state at any time that you wish. Sometimes at the end of a session it takes a few minutes to return to your normal awareness but that is only because it feels so good to be relaxed, sort of like not wanting to get up after a massage. You are always in control.
Can I hypnotise myself?
Sure you can! And it can even be said that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis; as you are in control of what you are doing. If you are doing the Relax Baby Hypnobirthing® program or using your HypnoKit and your Hypnotic Stress Reduction techniques, this is exactly what you will be doing. Some people prefer self-hypnosis because they can relax easier on their own, on their schedule, in an environment that is comfortable to them. That said, remember, when you are using self-hypnosis you aren’t getting the expertise and therapeutic help that you would be getting from a trained therapist. If you are using hypnosis to help you deal with anxiety, depression, or psychological issues then you should probably see a professional therapist instead of relying on self- hypnosis.
Is hypnosis real?
Even though hypnosis is becoming more mainstream and well known as a therapeutic modality, lots of people still feel a bit sceptical. But relax, baby (sorry, I couldn’t resist) it’s a legitimate therapeutic technique that has been used with proven success to treat medical and psychological disorders in millions of people. Hypnosis has been around a long time, it isn’t new or untested.
How many sessions do I need?
The brain needs repetition to change. But every brain is different. For lasting positive changes, I would recommend 6-8 sessions as a rule of thumb. Sometimes more and sometimes less. The truth is most people will feel better after just one session, but it does take repetition for the changes to stick. Remember, you are learning new skills!
What if I fall asleep?
Even when you sleep a part of your brain is always alert. You are always listening. The brain was designed to stay alert to protect us and our offspring. For example, if someone breaks into your home while you are sleeping at night, you will wake up as soon as you hear a noise. Or think of a new mother with a infant, she wakes up just as soon as she hears the baby crying. Our brains are wired for hearing even when we sleep, taking in information and recording it. In hypnosis, we use this, so even if you fall asleep during your session, your brain is still recording all of the information in your subconscious mind.
Can I use hypnosis instead of seeing a doctor?
No way, Jose. You should always seek the advice of a medical doctor before making a major change in your life.
Will I remember what you’ve said?
Possibly a little. But remember, hypnosis is designed to make your conscious mind forget the suggestions so that it doesn’t interfere with your subconscious.
What if I can’t be hypnotised?

Everyone enters a hypnotic state (Alpha) every day, several times per day. In alpha, your mind is slowed down a little bit, your focus narrows, your breathing slows, and you are relaxed.

This happens when you watch TV, read a book, play video games, and drive a car. It’s the same state you are in when you just wake up or right before falling asleep. You aren’t entirely conscious, but you aren’t entirely unconscious either.

When you are in this state, you’re much more suggestible than when you are fully awake (Beta). Sometimes people think they can’t be hypnotised, but that’s really just a bit of a misunderstanding as to what hypnosis is and what it is not.

Hypnosis is just a natural state which everyone moves in and out of throughout each day. It’s just like the state you are in when you’ve been driving a car for a long-distance, do you know that feeling? It isn’t that you are unconscious, but you do tune out. Your focus is concentrated on driving.

✨ What are neurotransmitters, exactly? ✨

Without getting to complex about it, they are really just our body’s chemical messengers.

We've got billions of these molecules and they are always working keeping our brains running, managing our breathing, our heartbeat, our learning and concentration levels. They also affect our perceptions like fear, mood, pleasure, and joy.

✨ So, let's dive right in and talk about a lesser known neurotransmitter called GABA ✨

Gaba is sort of the calming one. Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an amino acid but it also acts as a neurotransmitter in your brain; whenever GABA attaches itself to a GABA receptor, it produces a calming effect. And this calming effect can mitigate feelings of stress, fear, and anxiety by reducing mental and physical stress, decreasing muscle tension, creating a positive mood, and inducing sleep.

Studies have shown that having low GABA can result in overthinking, anxiousness, tension and difficulty sleeping. A study from Harvard Medical School found that people with sleep disorders had levels of GABA 30% lower than normal.

It isn't known what exactly what causes low levels of GABA. though it is thought to be caused by a poor diet, a lack of certain nutrients, poor gut health, prolonged stress, genetics, and not enough consistent exercise.

But there are natural ways that are thought to modulate your GABA levels. Consistent exercise routines are said to increase GABA over time. Because GABA is produced in your brain from glutamate (another amino acid) you can eat foods that contain a high concentration of this to support production of it (mushrooms, walnuts, soybeans, tomatoes, eggs, fish, bone broths, and aged cured & preserved foods).

And is there anything that meditation can't do? Studies show that people who meditate have increased levels of GABA and decrease in the stress hormone cortisol.

If you've never tried meditation before, or feel like you don't have the time, check out my mini-meditations (5 minutes – come on, you have 5 minutes!) both on my feed on Instagram and on my website.

💥 I'm hoping you are finding this little series on neurotransmitters as interesting as I do!

Neurotransmitters are our body’s chemical messengers.

We have billions of them and these little guys are always hard at work doing big things like keeping our brains running, managing our breathing, heartbeat, and our concentration; and they also affect our perceptions of fear, mood, pleasure, and joy.

💥 Today we are going to have a look at endorphins.

Endorphins help us to manage our pain but also help us experience pleasure, and are released when we get injured, experience stress, or when we eat, exercise, or have sex.

You've likely heard of an exercise high or a runners high (for me I only get this when it's over 😆), but I do understand that they can cause a euphoric feeling, and people, when they get this burst of endorphins, feel awesome.

💥Lucky for those of us who struggle with getting our endorphins from exercise 😆, there are other ways we can boost our endorphin levels naturally.

Indulging in chocolate, listening to music, having a laugh, or getting out in the sunshine, are all great ways to get more endorphins in your life.

Studies have also shown that we can increase endorphins through meditation/hypnosis and essential oils such as lavender, rosemary, citrus fragrances, ylang ylang, & frankincense.

If you have been feeling a little less than awesome lately, I can help. I encourage the use of essential oils during a meditation/hypnosis practice not only because it makes you smell like the heavens, but it is also profoundly relaxing, raising your endorphin levels naturally, all while assisting with the subconscious encoding process during hypnosis.

I am such a believer in the use of aromatic anchors that I send out a free hypnotic mist containing pure Bulgarian Lavender to my UK clients to use during their sessions & practice. And you know what else? Initial Consultations are free too and you get a free relaxation track to keep, no strings attached.

Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.” ~Dalai Lama Happens all the time doesn't it?

Sometimes something we want or need just doesn't happen, and we can't understand why.

Someone breaks up with us, we lose our job, we're broke, someone we love dies, there are so many things that can throw us for a loop. But unexpected good things happen too, and I think for me and for all of us, we might not be paying enough attention to those things.

Our brains are designed to seek out the negative, and it's not being mean, it works this way for our protection. If you think about it from a primitive survival standpoint, it's always on the lookout for danger so it can keep us safe.

So when we are stressed out, our brains go directly into survival mode and to the worst possible scenarios when things happen unexpectedly.

When we reduce stress in our lives we can start making the conscious choice to see more positives in the unexpected. Start looking at the good things. Maybe it's an unexpected act of kindness or finding some money on the street (yes please & thank you)?

And maybe, just maybe, if we can start looking at more of the good things in life, we can see that the universe really does have our back, and maybe all the bad things that happen are really just putting us on a path to the best things?

You know I'm all about relaxing, it's kind of my thing, and I think it's the key to a better mindset and life. I want you to think about something you can do for yourself today to relax and take care of your self, go for a walk (hey maybe you will find some cash 😁) or maybe just take a nap.

That way when the unexpected happens, and it surely will, you might be delighted, you might not, but either way you will be in a head space to take it in stride, because you can have the faith that everything is working out for you.

To paraphrase the Rolling Stones, you can’t always get what you want. But sometimes we get what we need.
