If you are feeling less than great, there are fast ways to get your life back on track. There isn’t a cookie-cutter approach that works for everyone (because HELLO you are not a cookie) but we’ve got hypnotic options. I’m a Southern Belle and a Kentucky Colonel (kind of like the guy on the KFC sign, but without the goatee and super cool bow tie) living in Altrincham (Manchester), UK and I’m so glad you are here.

I’m a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with a passion for relaxin’, making corny jokes, and helping people feel better.

As unfair as it is, I’ve not got any real chicken cred and I can’t get you a free 14 piece party bucket, but I can show you how to get your subconscious to work for you, rather than against you. Maybe quite not as delicious, but a bit healthier.

✨ What is a neurotransmitter, exactly?

Well, in a nutshell, without getting to complex about it, they are really just our body’s chemical messengers. They are the molecules that our nervous system uses to send messages to our other parts.

We have billions of these molecules and they are always at work keeping our brains running, and they manage our breathing, heartbeat, as well as our learning and concentration levels. Not only that, but they affect perceptions such as fear, mood, pleasure, and joy. Pretty powerful stuff.

✨ Our neurotransmitter of the day is Serotonin.

Serotonin is mostly known as a mood neurotransmitter, but it’s more than that.

It’s a hormone too and it keeps our moods stable, as it creates feelings of well-being and happiness. It effects our sleep, levels of anxiety, our sexuality, and our appetite. It’s a busy bee and it impacts our entire body.

✨ What happens if I’m not producing enough?

Low levels of serotonin can impact virtually every system in the body and can contribute to depression, anxiety, and sleep problems.

It’s a reward chemical and your body will make more to encourage you to engage in activities that make more. So if you spend time with people you like, for example, your body will create more serotonin. Other ways we can boost serotonin is through light exposure (spending time outdoors), movement (getting some exercise), massage, daydreaming or recalling happy events, and meditation.

✨ Another big way to up your serotonin?

Reduce your stress; when you are stressed it triggers the release of cortisol and adrenaline (we will talk about this one later) which interfere with serotonin production.

✨ Hypnosis, much like meditation, reduces your stress. As an added bonus you can use the power of your subconscious so that you can do things that will naturally raise your serotonin levels like exercising or socialising more. ✨Hypnosis suffers from a bit of an image problem. That is, thankfully, starting to change as meditation has become more mainstream. And hypnosis is very similar to meditation. It is, at it's essence simply a relaxed mental state. That's really all trance or hypnosis is.

✨But what it is not, might surprise you. Hypnosis isn't mind control and it won't make you cluck like a chicken. Unless of course you want to be more chicken like, and sure we could work on that. That's me kidding around, but seriously if clucking is your thing, no judgment from me.

✨Anyway, hypnosis or trance is simply the process of relaxing you and getting you to a place where your conscious mind just goes a bit quiet for a while. And you know the part of your mind that I'm taking about - that nagging, chatty, constant narrative we all have running through our heads all day every day.

✨Hypnosis quiets that. And without all of the thoughts buzzing about in your head, (warning shameless self promotion coming up) a hypnotherapist (cough, cough, like me) can bypass that critical facility and speak directly to your subconscious mind.

✨It is through these suggestions made to you while in a trance state, that we can create brand new pathways in your brain. You can literally rewire your mental circuits to change in whatever way you want. It's like pressing an easy button. Change without struggle. So contrary to what you might have seen in the movies or on television, you're aren't losing control, you are taking it back, baby.
